William Smith

STATHAM – William R. Smith, 83, died Sunday, March 14, 2010.

Born in Winder, he was the son of the late Macon and Grace Thomas Smith. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, member of Statham Masonic Lodge, member of the Statham American Legion, and was one of the original members of the Statham Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, Lovic Smith and Oretha Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Roberts Smith, Statham; and daughters, Vicky and Patricia Smith, Statham.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 17, at 2 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. Ronnie Healan, Lamar Casper and Brad Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.
