CORNELIA – Odis H. Fleming, 94, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at The Oaks at Scenic View Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on September 14, 1915, he was the son of the late Thomas Grayson and Mary Gordon Fleming and was the last surviving member of the immediate family. He was retired as the owner and founder of Fleming Foodservice. He was the past-director of the Georgia Wholesale Grocers Association and was an avid gardener. Mr. Fleming was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, where he was named Deacon Emeritus, was actively involved in the Southern Baptist Men’s Class and was an avid participant with Helping Hands Ministries.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Bernice Massey Fleming, Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Anne and Eli Dunagan, Mt. Airy; son, Douglas Fleming, Hollingsworth Community; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 17, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Cornelia with the Revs. David Turner and Gary Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, Debt Retirement Fund, P.O. Box 96, Cornelia, GA 30531.
