NICHOLSON – Eloise Virginia Palmer Miller, “Peasey”, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010.
A lifelong resident of Nicholson, she had spent the past 19 years at the BJC Nursing facility, where she became a blessing to many of the workers and other residents. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Clara Palmer of Nicholson and dearly loved her stepmother Almera. She spent her working life in textile manufacturing but enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She always loved spending time with the people she loved and a stranger was just a friend she hadn’t met yet. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, J.B. Miller; and a brother, James R. “Spud” Palmer.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Jean and Jimmy Ford, Nicholson; grandchildren, Angie (Judd) Wilkes, Moody, Ala., and Teresa (Paul) Scogin, Statham; great-grandchildren, Joshua Palmer Wilkes, Sarah Rivers Wilkes, Anna Claire Wilkes, John Bryan Wilkes, Paulina Kelsey Scogin and Angela Paige Scogin; sisters, Frances Haggard, Nicholson, Ethelyn “Tootsie” Waters, Louisville, Ky., Nell Shope, Nicholson, Dorothy “Dolly Jean” Smith, Nicholson; and a dear sister-in-law, Frances Palmer, Nicholson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, at 2 p.m., from the River of Life Worship Center with the Revs. Bobby Ivester, Marty Smith and Mike Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Howington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, March 3, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
