ALTO – Shelby Jean Dodd Stewart, 69, died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born in Habersham County on May 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Travis and Esther Coley Dodd. She was a homemaker and also a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Antioch Pentecostal Fire Baptized Holiness Church and stayed strong in her faith by reading her Bible and praying. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by brothers, Wilkie Dodd, Henry Dodd and David Dodd.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Mark H. Stewart, Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Ann and Every Oliver, Alto, June and Sandy Corn, Cleveland, Linda and Roger Corn, Lula, Barbara and Joey Nations, Cornelia, and Brenda and Todd Dean, Clarkesville; sisters, Lillian Dodd, Alto, and Mary Hopkins, Lula; brothers, Thurston Dodd, Lula, Milton Dodd, Dennis Dodd and Tommy Dodd, all of Alto; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 2, at 11 a.m., at Antioch Pentecostal Fire Baptized Holiness Church with the Revs. Graylen Armour and Jacob Armour officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, March 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The family will be gathering at Yonah Congregational Holiness Church Fellowship Hall.
