Richard Dale “Squirrel” Nails, 57, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010.
A native of Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Raymond Dale and Media Layton Nails. He was an automobile mechanic and a veteran of the United States Army where he received the National Defense Metal. He was a member of Watkinsville First Baptist Church. Mr. Nails was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Lee Athey Sr.; and a niece, Tammy Athey.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Donald Struebing; nephews, Herbert Lee Athey and Harry Lee Athey, all of Gulfport, Miss.; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, T.L. and Linda Turman and Lee Turman, all of Bogart.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 26, at 2 p.m., at Watkinsville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlos Sibley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Watkinsville First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 1610 Simonton Bridge Rd., Watkinsville, GA 30677.
