COMMERCE – Shirley Joyce Nix Perry, 62, died Tuesday, February 22, 2010, at BJC Nursing Home in Commerce, following an extended illness.
Born on May 19, 1947, in Rome, she was the daughter of Tommie Ann Bryant Nix of Cartersville and the late John Lee Nix. She was a retired cosmetologist and a member of the Oakland Heights Baptist Church in Cartersville.
Survivors in addition to her mother include daughters and sons-in-law, Sabrina Barrett Hardy and Charles L. Hardy III, Commerce, and Misty Barrett and Eric Myrick, Cartersville; grandchildren, Anna Caroline Hardy, Lambdin Barrett Hardy, Erica Devin Myrick and Colin Andrew Myrick; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Brenda Nix and Ronnie and Joann Nix; and sisters, Betty Cowart (late husband Ray), and Ann Dussault (late husband Ray).
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25, at 11 a.m. at Oakland Heights Baptist Church in Cartersville with the Revs. Joe Nix and Carlton Allen officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Nick Cowart, Brian Nix, Kevin Nix, Russell Nix, Michael Ezell and Robert Nix will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Nix, Travis Nix, Keith Nix, Scott Cowart and David Ezell.
Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville, is in charge of arrangements.
