JEFFERSON – Wineva Brown Williams, 85, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010.
She was the daughter of the late Marion Newton and Annie Bell Stepp Brown of Jefferson. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by brothers, James Enoch Brown and Rutherford Brown; and a sister, Polly Brown Wood. She was a graduate of Martin Institute and attended Piedmont College in Demorest until going to work at Bell Aircraft in Marietta during World War II. She was an accomplished china painter, antique enthusiast, doll collector and avid reader. She was a proofreader for the University of Georgia Printing Department before working in Protective Services and retiring from the Clarke County Department of Family and Children Services.
Survivors include children, Thomas Patrick Williams Sr., James David Williams, Joseph Michael Williams, Karen W. Herring, John Mark Williams and Maureen W. Little; sister and brother-in-law, Marion Frances Brown and Ralph Howard; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A family graveside service was held Saturday, February 20, at Woodbine Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Egleston Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
