ELLIJAY – Cecil Burns, 83, died Thursday, February 11, 2010.
He was born on November 24, 1926, in Commerce, the son of the late Charles Burns Sr. and Naomi Morrison Burns. He worked in sales for Swift and Company Meats. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ellijay and was a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his wife, June Patricia Donaldson Burns.
Survivors include a son, David Burns, Ellijay.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, February 16, from the First United Methodist Church in Ellijay with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Burial was in the Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia Mountain Hospice, 70 Caring Way, P.O. Box 580, Jasper, GA 30143 in his memory.
Bernhardt Funeral Home, Ellijay, was in charge of arrangements.
