WINDER - Frank H. Dooley, 88, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
A native of Morgan County, he was the son of the late Prince Waters and Mary Jane Dooley and was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie C. Baskin Dooley, after 60 years of marriage. He had lived in Barrow County for 65 years on his 30-acre farm. Besides being a farmer, he was a carpenter by trade. He had worked at the GMC Plant in Doraville for several years and then at Westinghouse, in Athens, where he retired. Mr. Dooley served in the 3CC Camp and then in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Italy. He was a member of the American Legion to which contributions were to be made. He attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Ted R. Abbott, Sr., Winder; granddaughter and husband, Sheila and Tripp Powers, Monroe; grandson and wife, Ted R., Jr. and Kiddist Abbott and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Abbott, Norcross; and sister, Rosie Pass, Statham.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 24, 2009, from Smith Memory Chapel, with the Revs. Leon Pass and Bobby Allen officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Ronald Dooley, Harry Gordon, Randy Gordon, David Harbin, Mike Holcomb and Brian Pass.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
