CONYERS – Lottie “Cissy” Ekard, 79, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
A native of Hickory, N.C., Mrs. Ekard was retired from Grinnell Fire Protection. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she was very active in the Prime Timers Club and choir. She was a volunteer for the Conyers-Rockdale Council for the Arts, a member of the Red Hat Society, an avid reader and accomplished cook. She loved to travel and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ekard was preceded in death by her husband, Loy W. Ekard Jr. who predeceased her in 2005.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Charlotte Ekard, Loganville, Jeff and Sally Ekard, Jefferson; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Greg Hix, Conyers; a brother, James P. Queen, Hickory, N.C.; grandchildren Wes and Jackie Ekard and Mary Ekard, Stephanie Hix, Robby and Janet Smith and Jessica Smith; great-grandchildren, Jay Ekard, Chase Ekard and Samuel Smith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5, at 1 p.m., at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Conyers with Pastors Mike and CeCe Nickolich officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the JOASH FUND, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 2533 Stanton Road, Conyers, GA 30094.
