COMMERCE – Willie Waymon Cowart, 74, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Banks County, he was the son of John and Lucille Dailey Cowart. He was a business owner and a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sanders Cowart, Commerce; sister-in-law, Peggy Gleaton, Thomaston; nephews, Terry Dills (Emily), Commerce and Byron Gleaton, Thomaston; niece, Robbin Kent, Thomaston; great-nephews, Adam Dills, Commerce, Logan Kent Carter Gleaton and Nathaniel Gleaton, all of Thomaston; and great-nieces, Amber Chester, Commerce, and Hayle Kent, Thomaston..
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 2, at 2 p.m., at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Donald Wilson and Phil Parks officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, February 1, from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
