BALDWIN – Boyce Brady, 89, of the Damascus Church Community, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at his residence.
He was born on September 6, 1920, in Banks County, the son of the late Will and Nancy Kelley Brady. Mr. Brady was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Sue Bennett Brady and Marsha Sears Brady; a son, Everage Brady; grandchild and a great-grandchild; brothers, Otha, Owen and Boyd Brady; and sisters, Ola Ausburn, Violet Westbrooks, Mary Hays and Florine Thompson. He was a member and deacon of the Damascus Baptist Church and was retired as a supervisor from Robinson Furniture and Toccoa Manufacturing with 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II, having served his country bravely and received the Purple Heart Medal for Valor.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Edna and James Palmer, Toccoa; sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Olivia Brady, Eastanollee, Kenneth and Dianne Brady, Gillsville, Edward Brady, Baldwin; stepson and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Carla Roberts, Baldwin; sister, Lillie Mae Pitts, Mt. Airy; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, at 2 p.m., from the Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Harold Ledford and Gene Todd officiating. Burial will be in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Rogers officiating at the graveside. Full military honors will be provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720 and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 28, from 2 to 8 p.m.
