ALTO – Robert C. Cook Sr., 87, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a short illness.
Born on August 31, 1922, he was the son of the late Clarence Neese and Lilly Christine Butler Cook. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, a member of the Currahee Mountain Good Sams RV Camping Group, and was a United States Navy Veteran, having proudly served his country during World War II, receiving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was a very accomplished wood worker.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Patricia Gilmore Cook, Alto; daughter, Nancy Frazier, Elizabeth City, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert C. “Rusty” Cook Jr. and Mary Cook, Poinciana, Fla., David and Marcia Cook, Lula; grandchildren, Clint Cook, Duluth, Lorrie Williams, Maryville, Ill., Jenny Parker, Troy, Ill., Lisa Frazier, Bergenfield, N.J., and Patricia Stone, Martinsburg, W. Va.; and six great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Federation of the Blind, 1800 Johnson St., Baltimore, MD 21230, or the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Pkwy., Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of arrangements.
