HOSCHTON - Marion Skinner "Peggy" Hayes, Hoschton, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church where she served in Sunday School, VBS and Missions for many years. Mrs. Hayes, affectionately known among her family as "Gran" and her friends as "Miss Peggy," was born April 29, 1929, to the late Robert Ginn and Annie Adams Skinner of Barrow County. She was a wonderful wife, mother, Gran and friend. Her love of her family and her cooking and baking for her family and friends brought her much joy. Many Christmases she would make over 50 huge pieces of her famous peanut brittle and each was given to a special person in her life. In her years of good health, she had the reputation as one of the best cooks in Jackson County.
In the 70s, Peggy was a top salesperson at Belk's of Lakeshore Mall where her customers in the children's department felt a special love for her and she for them. Mrs. Hayes will always be remembered for the loving, giving and caring person who she was.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Mark Hayes and her great-granddaughter Elsie Conde. Survivors include a sister, Jackie Foster, Winder; her children and six in-laws, Kenton and Debbie Hayes, Tallulah Falls, Claire and Elton Maddox, Gainesville, Lemuel and Cheryl Hayes, Wendell and Patty Hayes, Jim Hayes, all of Hoschton, Rexine Hayes Howard, Calhoun; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special friend, Bessie Lynn; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 28, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangement.
