ROYSTON – Thomas Mitchell Phillips, 80, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Born in Franklin County on February 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Dillard and Mozelle James Phillips. He was a cabinet maker and was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Ann Webb Phillips; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Kathy Phillips and Jeff Phillips, all of Royston; a daughter, Sandra Phillips, Commerce; grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Erica Phillips, Misty and Eddie Holland and Adam Phillips; great-grandchildren, Lexey Phillips and Aera Holland; brothers, Bo Phillips, Canon, and Danny Wayne Phillips, Royston; and sisters, Sue Minish, Danielsville, and Louise Dudley, Commerce.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, at 4 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with Vernon Boswell and Eddie Holland officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Tuesday, January 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family is at home.
