‘Dot’ Wood

DANIELSVILLE – Dorothy “Dot” Bond Wood, 71, died Friday, January 22, 2010.

She was the daughter of the late Dr. Dewitt Talmadge Bond and Elise Quattlebaum Bond of Danielsville. She was a beloved classmate of the first graduating class of Madison County High School in 1956, where she met and married her husband of 51 years John H. “Jay” Wood Jr. She participated in sports, 4-H and many other clubs during and after high school years. Her years of work included the Bank of Danielsville, Merrill Lynch and the Continuing Education Center at the University of Georgia. She spent most of her life being a loving mother, homemaker and caregiver to her family and extended family. She loved to travel and talked often about her favorite trips to Alaska and Maine. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and specialty items with Jay. She was a lifetime member of the Danielsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to her husband include children, Andy Wood, Danielsville, wife Carol; grandchildren, Wyatt, Dewitt and Jenna, Randy Wood, Cochran, wife Amy, grandchildren River and Brooke, Sandy Wood, Birmingham, Mich., wife Kara Kovalchik; brother, Dewitt “Pete” Bond; nieces and nephews, Lawrence Bond, Peter Bond, Merrye Davis and Kathye Harber.

Memorial services will be held Monday, January 25, at 2:30 p.m., from the Danielsville United Methodist Church, 275 General Daniel Ave. N., with the Rev. Calvin Ward officiating. Burial will be at Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be George Elrod, Pat Graham, Phil Jones, Allan Parham, Larry Pierce and Charles Temple.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 25, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
