Elizabeth Turner

LULA – Elizabeth Ward Turner, 73, of the Rock Springs Community, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Born on August 10, 1936, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late George Glenn Sr. and Lonnie Gowder Ward. She attended the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener who loved to share her vegetables and flowers, was an avid traveler and shopper and loved cooking, music and reading her Bible. She loved her family and grandchildren and “social time” with all of her family, friends and extended family, loved ones stated. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Ward, George Ward, Albert Ward and Glenn Ward Jr.; sisters, Mary Lou Lankford, Mildred Hilsman, Rushie Ward and Lucy Grace Ward; and father and mother-in-law, W.F. and Floyce Turner.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Howard Turner, Lula; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverley and George Tuggle, Emmitsburg, Md., Sandra and Tim Garner and Angela and Blaine Tarnecki, all of the Rock Springs Community, Lula, Doris and Kim Cantrell, Mt. Airy; brothers, Rufus Ward, Eatonton, Ernest Ward, Madison; grandchildren, Rebecca Landreth, Wyndmoor, Pa., Faith Tuggle and April Tuggle, Emmitsburg, Md., Anna Garner, Kara Garner, Will Tarnecki and Mary Beth Tarnecki, all of the Rock Springs Community, Lula, Brooke Cantrell, Dylan Cantrell and Jonah Cantrell, all of Mt. Airy; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Fowler, Mt. Airy, Carol Ward, Florine Ward, Margie Ward and Mary Ward, all of Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, at 2 p.m., at the Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Cameron, George Tuggle and Pastor Blaine Tarnecki officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
