Joan Harvey Westbrook, “Mama Jo”, died Friday, January 15, 2010.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Sara Jane Dabbs Harvey, formerly of London, England. She worked with her husband for 60 years at Westbrook Realty, as she was one of the first female realtors in Athens. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church and was instrumental in impacting the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was favorable known as Mama Jo by family and friends who experienced her spirit and love. Mrs. Westbrook was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Westbrook; and a brother, Dennis Frank Harvey.
Survivors include children and spouses, Harvey and Janet Westbrook, Cauthen and Joan Westbrook, Janis and Ted Adams, Sally Bolemon and Michael Smith, and Lee and Marsha Westbrook, all of Madison County; grandchildren, Janna and James Bates, Kevin and Tanya Adams, Phillip and Catherine Westbrook, Jill and Brian O’Neill, Chris and Kate Adams, Brad and Angie Bolemon, Barry Westbrook, Jake and Heather Westbrook, Britt and Brittany Bolemon, Joni and Ben Smith, Blake and Cassie Bolemon, Bonnie Westbrook and Blaise Bolemon; step-grandchildren, Staci and Todd Voyles, Paige and Jeremy Wilson; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 17, from the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Revs. Tim Peek and Ben Smith officiating. Burial was in the Ila Cemetery.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

I just wanted to express my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. I noted that you all are religious people. 1 cor 15:26 is a scripture that has really brought comfort to me, and i hope that you too will be comforted by the encouragement it holds.
