COMER – Larry Dwayne Drake, 53, died Thursday, December 24, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was the son of the late Lloyd Joe and Lizzie Belle Parham Drake. Mr. Drake was preceded in death by a brother, L.G. Drake; two sisters, Peggy Jean Drake and Betty Johnson.
Survivors include sons, Dwayne Drake, Danielsville, and Joseph Drake, Comer; brothers, Emory Thomas Drake, Vidalia, Donald Drake, Comer, Steve Drake, Crawford; twin brother, Barry Drake, Canon; sisters, Dorothy Scoggins, Elberton, Sarah Nell Loyd, Bowman, and Brenda Loyd, Canon; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Memorial services were held Saturday, December 26, at Vineyards Creek Baptist Church in Comer with the Rev. Roger Whiten officiating. At Larry’s request the body was cremated.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East Chapel, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
