COMMERCE – Jean W. Tanner, 77, died Friday, January 8, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Vade and Maudie Means Watkins. She was of the Baptist denomination and was retired from Alltel.
Survivors include her husband, Luther Payton Tanner, Commerce; daughters, Debbie Phagan, Nicholson, Shelia Minish, Commerce, and Gay Dowdy, Homer; sons, Jeff Tanner and Tracy Tanner, both of Commerce; sister, Mildred Barnett, Nell Morgan and Ellen Parker, all of Commerce; brother, Charles Watkins, Commerce; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 10, from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Phillips and Mr. Ray Chester officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
