WINDER – Danny Humphrey, 62, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010.
Born on September 15, 1947, in Cumming, he was previously from Sugar Hill and was the son of the late Buster and Emma Humphrey. He was a 1965 graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee and was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He was a building contractor and worked with his father, B.H. Humphrey Company for many years. He was the owner of D.D.R. Construction Company in Winder and was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Humphrey was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Humphrey.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kathy Humphrey, Winder; son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Martine Humphrey, Winder; grandchildren, Kate Humphrey and Bryant Humphrey, both of Winder; brother, Donald Humphrey, Carnesville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jackie Humphrey, Debra Caton and Patti and Jamie Velez, all of Buford, David and Linda Parker, Lawrenceville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Katherine Parker, Buford, aunt and uncles, Sally and Winton Johnson, and Grady Stancil, all of Buford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 8, at 3:30 p.m., in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Pirkle and Joel Shadburn officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Hill Cemetery in Sugar Hill. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 7, from 12 noon until 9 p.m.
