JEFFERSON – Johnnie Kenneth Ramey, 66, died Saturday, January 2, 2010.
Born on March 27, 1943, in Catlettsburg, Ky., he was the son of the late John Garfield and Rosa Victoria Cordle Ramey. He worked as a worm on an oil rig, made cast iron molds, as a security guard, EMT, tow truck driver and cashier. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by brothers Okie and Kyutis; and a sister, Goldie Mae Preston.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Lee Kinsley Ramey, Jefferson; daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya and Brian Bell, Buford, Marcella Ramey, Catlettsburg, Ky., Marie and Mark Forrest, Ft. Atkinson, Ky., Liz and Terry Kostroski, Jefferson, Wis., Nicole and Mike Walsh, Waukasha, Wis.; sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Michelle Ramey, Jefferson, Bill and Pat Haney, East Troy, Wis., Jeff and Annie Haney, Willimantic, Conn.; sisters, Charlotte Jenkins, Lexington, Ky., Ernestine Howard, Marion, Ohio; brothers, Kelly and Linda Ramey, Newport, R.I. and Granville and Dena Ramey, Catlettsburg, Ky.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5, at 12 noon in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Herb Snedden officiating. The visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, prior to the service, at the funeral home. A private family burial will follow at a later date in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
