Clayton D. Holbrook, 84, of Dawsonville, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, following a brief illness.
Born in Forsyth County, he was the son of the late Fred and Ida Holbrook. He lived most of his life in Dawson County and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He worked in residential construction, did poultry and cattle farming, and had a great love for fishing. Mr. Holbrook was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Mazelle Pugh Holbrook; daughter, Martha Sue Holbrook; brothers, Hoyt Holbrook, Fred Holbrook Jr. and Marcus Holbrook.
Survivors include children, Charlotte and Bill Moore, Alpharetta, Jimmy and Sheila Holbrook and Elaine and Charlie Carter, all of Dawsonville; sister, Gwen Koehler, Kings Mountain, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Holbrook, Ft. Mill, S.C., Lois Holbrook, Hoschton, Inez Pugh and Lola Pugh, both of Dawsonville; brothers-in-law, James Pugh, George Pugh, Darrell Stewart, all of Dawsonville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6, in the chapel of Bearden Funeral Home with the Revs. Ruel Martin, Stephen Davis and Jerry Frazier officiating. Burial was in Sawnee View Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.
Bearden Funeral Home, Dawsonville, was in charge of arrangements.
