JEFFERSON – Edward Donald Strickland, 68, died Saturday, December 26, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late William Dewey and Reutrell Baxter Strickland. He was a shop foreman in small engine repair work and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by brothers, William Delean Strickland, Delmus Wayne Strickland, Roger Dale Strickland and David Keith Strickland.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Phagan Strickland, Jefferson; son, Rick Strickland, Colbert; daughter, Kimberly Williams, Athens; sisters, Patricia Ann Warren, Charleston, S.C., Peggy Chirl Usry, Franklin, N.C., Faye Swain, Jefferson; brothers, Daniel Strickland, Athens, Dwight Strickland, Jefferson; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Kevin Page and Dugar Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Norris, Chris Motes, John Strickland, Lee Swain, Dennis Strickland and Tim Strickland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, December 27, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to the Marantha Baptist Church, 65 Ebenezer Church Rd., Jefferson, GA 30549.
