CORNELIA – Ruth Vaughn Cotton, 78, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at her residence.
Born in Banks County on November 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Dock and Mae Coker Vaughn. She was a member of the Baldwin Baptist Church and a member of the Joy Club of the Church. She retired as a lab technician with Ethicon Inc., a Johnson and Johnson Company, with 29 years of service. She was a member of the 25-year club of Ethicon and was on the Board of Johnson and Johnson retirees. Mrs. Cotton was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Randy Ramsey; daughter-in-law, Sandreal Cotton; and brothers, Joe and Bryant Vaughn.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William J. “Dub” Cotton, Cornelia; daughters and son-in-law, Denise and Hank Crump, Baldwin, and Connie Ramsey, Cornelia; sons, Donald and Steve Cotton, both of Cornelia; sister, Genell Carlan, Homer; brother, Olin Vaughn, Homer; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, at 2 p.m., at the Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Terry Rice and Frank Sailers officiating. Burial will be in Nail Creek Church Cemetery with the Rev. Don Blalock officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.
