HOMER – Lester “Luke” Armour, 72 died Monday, December 14, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Hall County on August 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Jiles and Bonnie Brown Armour. He was employed in the sanitation department at Fieldale for 15 years and was a member of Bethesda Fellowship Church. He enjoyed fishing and was also an animal enthusiast. Mr. Armour was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Armour; and brothers, Glenn Armour, Larry Armour, Troy Armour and Rick Armour.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Ray Ward, Cornelia, Ann and Cicero Swing, Commerce; son, Tommy Armour, Flowery Branch; stepdaughter and her husband, Lois Darlene and Jack Callenback, Cleveland; stepsons and their wives, Gary Lynn and Beverly Thomas, Cleveland, Randall and Susie Thomas, Alto, Tony and Kathy Thomas and Joseph “Jody” and Brandy Thomas and Terry Lynn Thomas, all of Homer; brothers and sisters-in-law, William “N.C.” Armour, Gainesville, Jimmy Armour, Demorest, Cecil and Edna Armour, Homer, Earl and Lynda Armour, Alto; sisters and brother-in-law, Omazell and Hoyt Parson, Alto, and Ruby Mae and Reece Simmons, Baldwin, Janice Armour, Cornelia; sisters-in-law, Sandy Armour, Baldwin, Cathy Armour and Joyce Armour, both of Alto; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Reynolds and Pastors Rich Hulsey and John Graham officiating. Burial will be in Old Blue Creek Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Terry Benfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for those to bring a new or gently used toy for Toys for Kids.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, is in charge of arrangements.
