ATHENS – Jack Donald Shaw, 71, died Sunday, December 13, 2009.
Born on July 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Henry Newton and Mae Etna Spinks Shaw. He was a carpenter and worked with Joe Sikes Oil for 18 years. He was a member of the Edwards Chapel Baptist Church in Athens and was in the last graduating class of the University High School in Athens. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by grandparents, George and Maly Shaw and Madge Spinks and brother, Gary Michael Shaw.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Minish, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Roger Moore, Lula; stepdaughter, Lisa and Mike Ogletree, Homer; stepson, Scott Fincannon, Commerce; brothers, Newt Shaw, Fayetteville, Billy Shaw, Snellville, David Shaw, Athens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Bud Bryant, Sandy Cross, Janice Williamson, Athens, Sandra and Chris Colquitt, Winterville, Melissa and Mike Carithers, Watkinsville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday, December 18, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Chaplin Barry Gee, the Rev. John Parker and Mr. Joe Sikes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, December 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.
