Rev. Tony Smith

STATHAM – Rev. Tony Smith, 53, died Thursday, December 10, 2009.

Born in Green County, he was the son of the late Lint and Elsie King Smith. He was Associate Minister at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy Smith and Larry Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Chris Smith, Statham; sons and daughter-in-law, Wesley Smith, Pineknot, Ky., and David and Candace Everett, Hollywood, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Joel Carter and Tamara and Josh Jones, all of Winder; six grandchildren; brothers, Billy and Jackie Smith and Mike and Kay Smith, all of Union Point, Ronald and Sheila Smith, Monroe; sisters, Mary Anne Ferguson, Athens, and Dorothy and Ray Rhodes, Union Point.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, at 11 a.m., at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with the Revs. Hoyt Johnson and Ray Rhodes Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, December 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.
