Flora Humphries

COMMERCE – Flora Gerrell Humphries, 86, died Monday, December 7, 2009, at her residence.

Born in White County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Devero and Lily Fortenberry Gerrell. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and was a retail manager for a grocery store. Mrs. Humphries was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Humphries.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Malcolm Vest, Commerce; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Malinda and Landon Lanier, Statesboro, and Jennifer and David Elkins, Athens; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Flora Lanier, Statesboro; sisters, Lora Brewer, Conyers, and Ethel Warwick, Conley.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 9, at 2 p.m., at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Manus and Verner London officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at New Bridge Baptist Church in White County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.
