HOSCHTON – Rachel Louise Stephens, 68, died Saturday, December 5, 2009.
Born in Sandy Springs, she was the daughter of the late James Ralph and Claudie Jane Goss Smith. She was of the Methodist denomination and was a homemaker. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lamar Stephens, Hoschton; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Lillian Stephens, San Antonio, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Jerry Wardlaw and Debbie and Tim Mauldin, all of Braselton, Shirley and David Cantrell, Commerce, and Loree Clark, Hoschton; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Smith, Lawrenceville; sisters, Hazel Wheldon, Hoschton, Helen Doyle, Torrance, Calif., and Annie Walker, Alpharetta; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 8, at 2 p.m., from the Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Gooch officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, December 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.
