WINDER – Benny DeLay Sr., 72, died Saturday, December 5, 2009.
A native and lifelong resident of Barrow County, he was the son of the late Roy and Kathleen Casey DeLay. He was a retired truck driver with Empire Manufacturing Company and was of the Baptist denomination.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Austin DeLay, Winder; children, Kathy Vanderford, Dawn Queen, Benny DeLay Jr. and Penny Hilliard, all of Winder; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Claudette “Bootsie” Austin, Hoschton, and Mrs. J.L. Austin, Lake Park.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 8, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Revs. Doyle Sims and Sheri Smith officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, December 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
