DADE CITY, FLA. – Ferris B. Fitts, 86, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City, Fla.
Born on February 10, 1923, in Danielsville, he moved to Dade City, Fla. from Danielsville in 1956. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, worked for Douglas Ford Tractor, Dade City, Fla. for 14 years, Hillsborough Harvesting, Thonotosassa, Fla., and retired from ACME WellPoint, Plant City, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Fitts, Danielsville; sister, Georgia Beatenbo, Danielsville; brothers, Felton Fitts and Frank Fitts, both of Danielsville; and a daughter, Brenda Gail Fitts, Danielsville.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth “Libbie” Hix Fitts; children and spouses, Darrell (Debbie) Fitts, Donna (Tommy) Dorman, Joanna (David) Akers; grandchildren, Derek Fitts, Justin Dorman, Kayla Akers, and Ryan Akers, all of Dade City, Fla.; a special niece, Deb (Bill) Porter and her family, San Antonio, Fla.; sisters, Jimmie Hallford, Hendersonville, N.C., Bobbie Tyner, Johnnie Beatenbo, Jackie Thompaon, Patsy Little, Tommie (Junior) Holloway, Danielsville; brothers, Fred (Betty) Fitts, Birmingham, Ala., Furman (Sally) Fitts, Danielsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation was held Monday, November 16, at Whitfield Funeral Home, Zephyrhills, Fla. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 17, at First Baptist Church, Dade City, Fla. Burial was at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
