COMMERCE – Sula T. Webber, 79, died early Friday morning, November 20, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
She was born in Tattnall County, and was married to the Rev. John Webber, former pastor for many years of the Commerce Church of God. She was a minister herself having also served alongside her husband as they pastored several churches over the years. She was also a seamstress, a retail sales manager, and a housewife.
Survivors along with her husband include a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie Dawn and John Massey, Commerce; sister, Sally Anderson, Savannah; and grandchildren, Michael Beck and Carly Jade Massey.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 22, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Bryan S. Webber, Damon Davis, and Gary Thompson officiating. A graveside service and interment will be conducted on Monday, November 23, at 1 p.m. from the Harden Chapel Methodist Church in Lyons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 21, from 5 to 8 p.m., and at other times at the home of John and Valerie Massey, 124 Andrew Jackson St., Commerce. Pallbearers, along with several honorary pallbearers, will be Michael Beck, Michael Kitchens, David Adams, Tony Webber, Tommy Slater, and Stevie Brock.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
