ROYSTON – Annie Lou Atkinson Minyard, 97, died Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Born in Franklin County on June 2, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Sallie Hyde Atkinson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Future Farmers of America Alumni. She was a member of the Zidon Baptist Church, where she attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and the W.M.U. Mrs. Minyard was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Noel Minyard; brothers, Fred, Johnny, Lee and Milford Atkinson; and sisters, Lillie York, Bertha Chatham and Mary Smith.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Gary Minyard and friend Libby Sosby, and Wayne and Cheryl Minyard, all of Royston; grandson, Kyle Minyard; great-granddaughter, Gracie Minyard; half brother, Marion Atkinson, Royston; and half sisters, Mildred Starr and Marlene Strickland, both of Royston.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12, at 4 p.m., at the Zidon Baptist Church with the Revs. Andy Bond and Vernon Dorminey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, November 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The family is at home.
