SUWANEE – Craig L. Golden, 43, died suddenly on Monday, November 9, 2009.
Born on June 25, 1966, in Birmingham, Ala., he was the son of John and Gail Golden of Castle Rock, Colo. He was a 1984 magna cum laude graduate of Brookwood High School in Snellville and a 1988 summa cum laude graduate of Mercer University in Macon, with a degree in business and finance. He was an executive vice president with Waffle House, Inc., in Norcross. He played baseball while attending Mercer University, was a coach for the Gwinnett Football League and Greater Gwinnett Baseball League, and was a member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee. He was an avid sports fan and loved baseball. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, and will be greatly missed and always remembered, loved ones stated.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife of 20 years, Elena Golden, Suwanee; sons, Benjamin “Ben” Golden and Austin Golden, both of Suwanee; brother and sister-in-law, Cory and Amber Golden, Holly Springs, N.C.; aunts and uncles, Pat and Doug Devine, Cedar Park, Texas, and Judie and Gene Devine, Alexander City, Ala.; aunt, Marguerite Teslow, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; uncle and aunt, Charles W. and Jolene Golden, Fayetteville; nieces, Grace Golden, Holly Springs, N.C.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Martha Burton, Jefferson; sister-in-law, Belinda Nichols, Jefferson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brian and Trish Burton, Denver, Colo.; niece, Hannah Nichols; nephews, Tyler King and Tanner Burton; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, at 1 p.m., at Shadowbrook Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Linkous officiating. Burial will be in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, November 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Gwinnett Football League in memory of Craig Golden.
