CLARKESVILLE – Doris Anita Maney Lewallen, 49, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Stephens County on September 5, 1960, she was the daughter of Faye Ballenger Maney of Baldwin and the late Tommy Maney. She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved reading and collecting antiques, loved ones added. Mrs. Lewallen was preceded in death by a brother, David Thomas Maney.
Survivors include her husband, Darryl Lewallen, Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Julian Slagle, Gainesville, and Brittany and Manuel Nava, Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Tiffany Lacey, Gainesville; sisters, Bonnie Davis, Baldwin, Geraldine Simmons, Toccoa, and Dianne Tyra, Homer; grandchildren, Emily Nava, Alex Nava, Madison Nava, and Gabriella Nava; and several nieces.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Chad Buffington and Tony Goss officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, November 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
