COMMERCE – Leonard Lee Purdy Jr., 62, died Sunday, November 1, 2009, at BJC Hospital in Commerce.
Born in Fayetteville, N.C., he was the son of the late Leonard Lee Purdy Sr. and Vivian Parker Purdy. He was a retired GYSGT with the United States Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Richey Purdy, Commerce; a son, Leonard Lee Purdy III, Carrollton; daughters, Michelle Meilleur, Charleston, S.C., and Maria Freeman, Carrollton; brother, Johnny Purdy, Watkinsville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Ivie Funeral home. Burial will be in the Webbs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, November 3, from 6 to 9 p.m., and at other times at the home located at 143 Lewallen Rd., Commerce.
