Hugh Stowe

COMMERCE – Hugh Dorsey Stowe, 89, died Wednesday morning, October 28, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Willis and Mary Susan Hanley Stowe. He was retired from General Motors in Doraville after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II, in Berma, India and China. He was a member of VFW Post 5290 in Conyers.

Survivors include his wife, Sybil Gowder Stowe, Commerce; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, at 1:30 p.m., in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 29, from 6 to 9 p.m.
