JEFFERSON – Kenneth “Pete” Darwin Whelchel, 66, died Monday, October 26, 2009.
Born on October 26, 1943, in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Ned and Ester Whelchel. He was a member of Abundant Life Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Whelchel; sons, Kenneth Whelchel Jr., and Jeff Whelchel; daughter, Kim Alexander; grandchildren, Stephanie, Brooke, and Anna.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 28, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Carpenter and Bud McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Redstone United Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Wilkins, Wendell Finch, Charlie Pittman, Adam Leach, Bosie Griffith and Jimmy Nelms. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
