COMMERCE – Myrtice Satterfield Shropshire, 95, died Thursday, October 22, 2009.
Born on July 22, 1914, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Toma Stepp Satterfield. She was a homemaker and a member of the Madison Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Shropshire was preceded in death by her husband, Lucius Augustus Shropshire; a son, Bevo Shropshire; and daughter, Sara Ellen Jones.
Survivors include sons, Clyde Shropshire, London, Tenn., and Sam Shropshire, Annapolis, Md.; sisters, Pat Johnson and Merle Thompson, both of Jefferson, Judy Perkins and Ann Evans, both of Anderson, S.C.; brother, Bryce Satterfield, Jefferson; six grandchildren, Sid, Mitch, and Pam Shropshire, Bonnie Key, Bryan Jones, Junilik Shropshire; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. David Harbin officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Park with family members serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, October 26, from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the BJC Nursing Home Activity Fund for her friends at 70 Medical Center Dr., Commerce, GA 30529.
