JEFFERSON – Gladys W. “Granny” Williamson, 80, died Monday, October 19, 2009.
Born in Truetlen County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Estelle Cook Gurley. She was retired from Arcade Frozen Foods, was a lifelong member of the Arcade Presbyterian Church and was currently attending The First Baptist Church of Commerce. Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Williamson.
Survivors include her children, Trisha and Toby Evans, Watkinsville, Wanda and Joe Massey, Commerce, and Joy Hacker, Jefferson; brothers, Paul Gurley, Jefferson, Junior Gurley, Alma; sister, Jeanette Gurley, Alma; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, at 12 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Carlton Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Williamson Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Beckworth, Rusty Beckworth, Randall Skelton, Walt Massey, Wes Massey, Daniel Evans, Matt Sims, Jayson Moon, David Beckworth, and Allen Skelton. Mrs. Williamson’s granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Athens Regional Medical Center Palliative Care Services, 1199 Prince Ave., Athens, GA 30606.
