FORSYTH – David L. Woodberry Jr., 78, died Saturday, October 17, 2009.
Born on July 11, 1931, he was the son of Col. David L. Woodberry Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Witler Woodberry. He retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections and was a member of the Juliette United Methodist Church, member of High Falls American Legion, and an associate member of Vietnam Veterans. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Woodberry, Juliette; children and spouses, Vivian Woodberry and Bill McLendon, Alpharetta, David and Wanda Woodberry, Juliette; sister, Joan Foote, Fernandina Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Garrett McLendon, Kristina McLendon, Amanda Wooten and husband, Rick, Suzanne Woodberry, Matthew Woodberry, Amanda Benfield and her husband, Clay, and Saralyn Gregory; and a great-grandson, Erik Benfield.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, at 2 p.m., at the Juliette United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley Harrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Juliette United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 39, Juliette, GA 31046.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel, Forsyth, is in charge of arrangements.
