Alpha Etta Ansley, 95, of Cornelia, died Thursday, July 6, 2008, at the residence of her granddaughter, following a brief illness.
Born in Stephens County, on February 7, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Marietta Yearwood Edmonds. She was a homemaker and member of Alto Baptist Church. Mrs. Ansley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Andrew Ansley; daughter, Clara Lanier; brothers, Clyde, Frank and John Edmonds; sisters, Ruth Duncan, Beulah Pryor, Mae Rider, Callie Strawhorn, Gertrude Farmer and Birdie Long. She enjoyed canning and gardening, loved ones stated.
Survivors include sons, Robert C. Ansley, Cornelia, William Otis Ansley, Gafney, S.C. and Andrew Scott Ansley, Cleveland; a sister, Jewell Young, McMenviel, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Ralph Smith, and Ted Ansley and Charles Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family is at the residence.
