COLBERT – Azilee Scogin Nation, 79, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at her residence.
Born in Madison County on April 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Robert Elsberry and Annie Louise Goss Scogin. She was a seamstress and member of the Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Nation was preceded in death by a son, James Scogin; daughter, Mildred Lance; and brothers, William Scogin, Grady Scogin and Robert Scogin.
Survivors include a son, Billy Scogin, Colbert; daughters, Caroline Nation, Colbert, Peggy Elrod, Commerce, Sandy Hardeman, Pocataligo; brothers, Jacob Scogin, Danielsville; sister, Edna Alewine, Nicholson; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 10, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Jenkins and Albert Vaughn officiating. Burial was in the Kirk Family Cemetery.
