William Jones

CARLTON – William Henry Jones, 66, died Sunday, October 11, 2009, at his residence.

Born in Anderson County, S.C., on June 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Harrison Thomas and Ezzie Hunsinger Jones. He was a welder and was a former fire chief with the Collins Volunteer Fire Department. He was of the Baptist denomination.

Survivors include his wife, Gracie Looney Jones, Carlton; a son, William Donald Jones, Commerce; daughters, Linda Faye Jones, Danielsville, Wanda Lynn Chambers and Tracey Lee Jones, both of Comer, Rose Marie Jones, Colbert; brother, Walter Raleigh Jones, Carlton; sisters, Jacquiline Dixon, Comer, Barbara Sexton, Danielsville, Sylvana Thomas, Winterville, Kathleen Dove, Elberton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 14, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. James Creason officiating. Burial will be in the Danielsville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 13, from 7 to 9 p.m.
