ATHENS – Annie Lou Serpa, 78, died Sunday, October 11, 2009.
Born in Greene County, she was a Marine Corp veteran of World War II, and owned and operated Aunt’s Monogramming. Mrs. Serpa was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Serpa; a son, Robert R. Serpa Jr.; and sister, Catherine Dunn.
Survivors include daughters, Crystal Chapin, Athens, and Lynne Griffith, Commerce; sons, John Serpa, Alto, Christopher Serpa, Commerce; sisters, Margarette O’Neil, Union Point, Christine Harris, Arnoldsville, Shirley Harris, Florida; brothers, Lester Mize and Bill Mize, both of Woodville; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 17, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 17, from 9 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Rd., Athens, GA 30605.
