Martha Harper
CARLTON – Martha Oleda Harper, 84, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late William David Tiller and Laura Mae Smith Campbell. She was a member of Crawford Pentecostal Holiness Church and had most recently attended Mt. Pleasant Meeting House. She retired from Overhead Door after 15 years. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Harper; a daughter, Bridgett Rae Fortson; and sister, Jurene Stewart.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Dennis Thomas, Comer; grandchildren and their spouses, Norma and David Dyer, Winder, David and April Thomas, Comer; great-grandchildren, Jackson Dyer, Leah Thomas, Maggie Dyer, Anna Thomas and Cassie Thomas; and nieces, Malcolm Carter and Janelle Mathews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, at 3 p.m., at Lord & Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel with the Revs. Chuck Tatum and B.G. Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Glade United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
