HOSCHTON - Bob Howe, 79, died Saturday, October 3, 2009.
He was the son of the late Ray and Dorothy Hollowell Howe. Reared in Mobile, Ala., he was a former resident of DeKalb County and had resided in Hoschton for the past 11 years. Mr. Howe served in the United States Army from July 2, 1949 to April 4, 1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the 187th Regimental Airborne Combat Team. He was decorated with four Battle Stars, an Arrowhead, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachute Wings, Korean War Ribbon, U. N. Ribbon and Japanese Occupation Ribbon. Mr. Howe was a member of the V. F. W. and American Legion. He was a former president of Midway Little League in DeKalb County and coached little league baseball and football and also had played minor league baseball.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Gavin Howe, Hoschton; daughter, Jennifer Howe Henriott, of St. Augustine, Fla.; son, Redd Vincent Howe, Jefferson; and grandchildren, Corry Redd Howe, Ryan Brandon Howe, Mark Grover Henriott, Jr., Alexandra Howe Henriott, Megan Carter and Will Carter.
A graveside service with military honors was held Monday, October 5, at the Hoschton City Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Hoffman officiating.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
