Harry C. "Butch" Thomas, 73, died August 30, 2018.
Born in Commerce, Ga., he was the son of the late William Odell Thomas and Florence E. Lord Thomas. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Tressie W. Lord; and sister, Martha Worley.
Mr. Thomas retired from the United States Army after 21 years with specialized service in Aviation and Military Intelligence. He was a member of the John H. Jones Masonic Lodge #348, Danielsville, for over 50 years and a supporter of the Scottish Rite Hospital and the Shriner Yaarab Temple of Atlanta. He was a former member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and currently a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda Lord Thomas; children and spouses, Kurt and Shelley Thomas, Kip and Tara Thomas, Kristi and Jeffery Norman, Kevin Hall Thomas, and Kimberly and David Mayfield; grandchildren, Madelynn and Meara Thomas, Blake and Cade Thomas, Joshua Norman, Jeremiah Norman and Jacob Norman, Joanna Sage Thomas, and Jonah Ingram, Clay Mayfield and Christopher and (wife) Taylor Mayfield; Kyle Thomas and Catelyn Thomas; great-grandchildren, Kaylie Ingram, Karson Ingram and Lily Gail Mayfield; and sister, Dorothy Garrett.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 2, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Interment will follow at Ila Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donald Louis Bova, 88, beloved husband, father, Popa, and friend, went to be with the Lord at his residence on Monday, August 27, 2018.
Mr. Bova was born June 1, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Nicholas and Agnes (Posella) Bova. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen; and son, Mark Nicholas Bova.
Mr. Bova was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict after which he began his career as an Industrial Engineer for Master Electrical (Reliance Electric) in Dayton. He relocated to Madison, Ind., and later to Athens, Ga., where he settled and worked at Reliance Electric until his retirement. In his career he traveled to England, Germany, France, and Italy.
In 2001 Mr. Bova remarried and is survived by his devoted wife, Warnell S. Bova. They have cherished each other for 17 years and enjoyed traveling, volunteering, and serving the Lord.

Hildred Hardman Parker Benton, 91, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
Born in Colbert, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Zed and Mamie Smith Hardman. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Parker, who died in 1999; her second husband, James Benton, who died in 2014; her son, Edward Parker; three brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Benton was a homemaker and devout Christian. She had attended Prince Avenue Baptist Church and was currently a member of Joy Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that truly loved her family.
Survivors include her two children, Diane (Wayne) Kilgore, Hull, and Doug (Maria) Parker, Savannah; sister, Mary Ann Ramsay, Hull; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hattaway was born in Royston, Ga. on April 10, 1935, daughter of the late Wiley Phillips and Lilly Phillips. She was a homemaker and attended The Little Country Church in Commerce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. (Junior) Hattaway, Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Langford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Mark Falkingham and Betty Jean Regan.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E Baker; parents, Jasper and Amer Bell; and eight brothers and sisters.
Mildred retired from the University of Georgia, where she was an accountant for 32 years. After Retirement she went to work for The Madison County Board of Education for 10 years. She was a longtime member of Moons Grove Baptist Church in Colbert, Ga. and a member of the Madison County Retired Educators Association.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Buddy Fields; son and daughter-in-law, Marion and Karen Baker; brother, Charles Bell; grandchildren, Sonia Coile, Tasha Young, Mark Baker and Katelyn Baker; great grandchildren, McKenna Coile, Hayden Coile and Harlee Baker.

Eugene "Duck" Hayes, 85, died August 5, 2018.
A native of the Athens area, he was the son of the late Oda Hiram Hayes and Ola Blanche Toney Hayes and was preceded in death by his sister, Olivia Wills.
Mr. Hayes proudly served his country on board the USS Epperson in the United States Navy. He retired from the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department as Battalion Chief, after 33 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of the Crossroads Church and enjoyed playing golf and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife (married May 3, 1964), Elizabeth Martin Hayes; two daughters, Gina (Wil) Seymour, Athens, and Lori (John) Pethel, Colbert; grandchildren, Chandler Pethel and Ben Pethel; and sister-in-law, Frances Williams, Royston.

A native of Kalamazoo, Mich., he was a resident of this area for the last ten years. He was the son of the late Mike and Phoebe Snow and was the widower of Sandra Westberry Snow. Mr. Snow was a retired diesel mechanic and a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Snow will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle.
