ATHENS – Zora P. Turner, 82, died Friday, October 2, 2009.
A native of Hayward County, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Wilson Trafford and Allie Jones Hinsley. She was a farmer during her life, but volunteered for several organizations. She was very active at her church, Friendship Baptist Church in Danielsville, assisted with the Madison County High School Senior Banquet for many years, and devoted a lot of her time at the Senior Center in Madison County. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, J.H. Turner; brother, Doug Hinsley; sisters, Olive Chandler and Christine Rayford; and a half sister, Lucille Hughes.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Steve Bischoff, Sugar Hill, Trisha and Keith Nichols, Toccoa, Janet and Robby Escoe, Watkinsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Linda Turner, Hull, and Jeff and Katrina Turner, Resca; grandchildren, Scott Bolemon, Lauren Bullins, Alisha Scott, Brandon Escoe, Michael Turner Jr., Brittney Escoe, Stefani Turner, Samantha Turner, and Shyanne Turner; great-grandchildren, Taylor Bolemon, Tristan Bolemon, Payton Bullins, and Ashe Turner.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 4, at 2 p.m., at Friendship Baptist Church in Danielsville with the Revs. Larry Elliott and Dayton Logan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home Madison Chapel, Saturday, October 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.
